Local Study

Year 3 have been developing links with a school in Poland during their current Geography topic. . We have started to gather some information about the area in Poland by sending and receiving emails during our ICT topic.

As part of our studies, the children from both schools embarked on a joint project to enable them to gain a better understanding of the areas where there respective schools were located. The children at Christ Church designed a tourism brochure highlighting what the local area has to offer in terms of restaurants, bars, hotels and attractions. A selection of these can be viewed at the bottom of the page. In return, the children from Poland put together a 10 minute DVD showing us around their school. Please take a few moments to join us for the tour around "Szkola Podstawowa nr 16".

Poland Information

Szkola Podstawowa nr 16 ul. Malachowskiego 44 44-251 Rybnik It's located in the south of Poland in the industrial region called Silesia. Unfortunatelt it"s a very polluted area but I think it's not so bad in here. We live one hour drive from the mountains and 2 hrs from a beautiful old town Cracow that used to be the capital of Poland long time ago.

England Information

Christ Church First School is located in the Midlands in between the cities of Manchester and Birmingham and around 10 miles from the City of Stoke-on-Trent famous for it's Pottery.

The children really got to grips with their homework project producing some fantastic tourist guides that wouldn't look out of place in our local Tourist Information Centre. Many of the guides were designed and completed using ICT and some were chosen to be sent to our partner school in Poland. To decide which of the guides were to be sent, we had an X-Factor style judging contest where we made use of the recent acquisition of our Video Conferencing facilties. The children had to discuss and show their finished guide to Tittensor First School using the Video Conferencing leaving Tittensor First School with the very difficult task of deciding the 8 guides to be sent. Below are some examples of the finished guides.
